Understanding Your Restaurant/Club Reporting Numbers

Reporting Data for restaurant/club is the data that is compiled from generated sales, labor costs, receipts/invoices, inventory and spills/waste. You do not have to be a control freak to find the importance of properly managing such sensitive data. Once you have a routine and a moderate understanding of these reports you are likely to pinpoint what areas you need to work on or maximize productivity. Venues that have a Point of Sale (POS) often can easily generate reports with a few clicks of the mouse. If you do not have a POS, many managerial functions and practices can suffice. There are still procedures to maintain these reports with or without a POS. A manager will always have to finalize staff schedules, check orders, count cash, make deposits, confirm receipts and confirm product. This process cannot and should not be replaced by any technology. Hopefully this blog should raise enough flags that if you do not have a POS or a reporting data practice; you should re-evaluate what direction your restaurant/club is heading.
Basic reports all restaurant/clubs should generate:
  • Daily Sales Report
  • Monthly Restaurant Inventory
  • Schedule Labor Report
  • Beer, Wine, Liquor Costs Report
  • Labor Costs Report
